Who we are

The farm “Ciaolatte”, formed by 130 hectares entirely cultivated with the bioagricolture method, is situated in the area between the two small village of Sanguinaro and Borghetto in the city of Noceto (PR).
Positioned on the hills around Parma, this big farm is surrounded by marvellous naturalistic sceneries of particular historical origins.

“Ciaolatte” is the name given to the farm by the owner, in order to stand out the productive cycle which transforms milk into Parmesan cheese.
Actually the 250 head of cattle farm involves the production of milk which is directly worked in the dairy farm; the results are different dairies products and high quality Parmesan cheese, made according to CE 2092/91 Regulation and Biological Certification.

“All this as we believe in the importance of an healthy, natural and balanced diet, always in the respect of our traditions, landscape and environment.”

The farm, run with a familiar management, employs a polite and qualified staff in the production and in the direct sale.

The history of Borghetto and of the neraly area: the Francigena route

Borghetto:

The farm is situated along one of the original Francigena Route roods, which penetrates into a wood with the typical characteristics of the plain areas.

“With Borghetto Lanzabordoni, Costamezzana opened its doors to the pilgrims who went, in waves, down from the North or Spain, to go to the Holy Land or to the Apostles tombs.

The small village of Borghetto was an important pilgrims’ halt on their way to Rome or to Santiago of Compostella.

The common street of the village was called “the way”, as it result from important document.”

The “Francigena Route” past Borghetto, went on towards San Lazzaro, between Noceto and Medesano, as the nineteenth century cartography shows us.

Sanguinaro:

Sanguinaro is a small, but interesting village along Emilia street, more precisely between Parma and Fidenza.

Its Parish devoted to Simon and Giuda Saints has got an important artistic and historical value and is classified among the monumental churches of the region and also considered one of the most ancient and interesting monument in the area around Noceto.

It’s a small Romanesque Parish which was subject to some changes during the centuries, but it still preserves the original apsis and the ancient Romanesque crypt, subdivided by columns into 3 naves, each of them ending with an apsis.

The church had the aim to give hospital and help to the pilgrims passing by on their way along the “Francigena Route”.
